HTC Desire 320: A quick Look on Features

HTC recently launched its latest smartphone in the Desire series, the HTC Desire 320 at the ongoing CES event. Successor to the Desire 310, which was unveiled almost a year ago, it’s a budget smartphone that brings high-end features like 1,080p video recording and quad-core performance to the masses. In addition, it also features HTC’s proprietary Blinkfeed that combines news and social media contents to the smartphone’s home screen.

With so many high-end features in its arsenal, the HTC Desire 320 looks like a decent value-for-money offering at first glance. Let’s take a quick peak on what else the budget Desire series smartphone has to offer.

HTC Desire 320 – A quick look on Features.

Display, design and UI

The HTC Desire 320 sports a 4.5-inch display which features a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels (FWVGA), same as the Desire 310. Design-wise, it looks more polished than the predecessor with a bezel-integrated front speaker grille and a bolder rear speaker grille. No matter what color you pick, it will always be black at the front. It measures 132 x 67.79 x 10.5 mm, and gets a weight of 145 grams.

The smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with HTC’s proprietary Sense UI on top. Moreover, with BlinkFeed on home screen, it can always keep you updated with latest news and social media updates.

Performance

The HTC Desire 320 is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. It will be available in different configurations of RAM and internal memory in different markets – 512MB/1GB RAM and 4GB/8GB of internal storage. You can expand the storage further up to 32GB using a microSD card.

Camera and Connectivity

The HTC Desire 320 packs a 5MP rear camera with an LED flash for low-light photography. The camera supports full-HD video recording, which is certainly impressive considering it’s an entry-level smartphone. For video calling and selfies, the device gets a VGA snapper on the front.

In terms of connectivity, it carries features like 3G, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS etc. The vendor will also be releasing a dual-SIM edition of the same device for emerging markets like India.

Battery and availability

The smartphone is backed by a 2,100mAh battery, which as per the company delivers up to 12 hours of calling time and up to 690 hours of standby on 3G networks. The HTC Desire 320 will be available in white and gray colors in the United Kingdom very soon, followed by other regions like India.

Overall, the HTC Desire 320 is a decent smartphone, but only if the vendor manages to keep it under competitive price range as the competition is fiercest at the entry-level. There are several devices from Chinese and Indian vendors in the market with great specifications and low prices.
